Specialized Services to Help You Achieve an Optimal Return to Your Lifestyle

After you've experienced an illness or injury that leaves you in a weakened condition or one in which you need to change the way you do things at home, chances are you'll require help. Sometimes that help calls for specialized services conducted in your home.

That's where Empathy Care steps in. In addition to general home health care services, we offer a variety of specialized services for specific conditions — all of which are personalized and designed to helping you maximize your mobility and as much as possible get you back to the lifestyle you previously enjoyed.

Click the following links to learn more about the conditions we treat and about the specialized services we offer to improve outcomes for those conditions.

Physical Therapy: Achieving a return to maximum function after a hospital stay or time in a nursing facility often involves physical therapy. Exercises, such as stretching and balance training are among the potential programs designed to help restore function and confidence. One-on-one focused help in the privacy of your home makes the experience more comfortable and helps to restore confidence.

Occupational Therapy: Specialized programs help patients learn to discover and concentrate on optimal strategies for coping with everyday tasks such as bathing, driving, doing laundry, taking medications, and more. Therapists not only work one-on-one with patients to learn and practice helpful techniques, but assess the patient's home environment for safety. They can also make recommendations for adaptive equipment.

Speech Therapy: Speech and language problems can develop from a variety of diseases, congenital abnormalities, and injuries. They often leave patients with a diminished ability to communicate or difficulty in swallowing. Trained therapists help patients overcome many such problems with specialized programs individually developed for each person's unique needs.

Low Vision Rehabilitation: Diminished eyesight from injury or disease generally creates the need for specialized treatment to learn how best to navigate within your home with changed circumstances. Assessments of your home and adjustments as needed are among many of the strategies employed by a low vision rehab specialist.

Vestibular Rehabilitation: The vestibular nervous system receives positional and spatial information to maintain the body's balance, posture, and orientation in space. Impairment contributes to vertigo, dizziness, unsteadiness, trouble walking properly, ringing of the ears, an increase in falls and more.

Lymphedema Therapy: Lymphedema is an accumulation of fluid in the superficial tissues typically in the arms and legs. People with lymphedema can become debilitated as a result of the excessive swelling.

Anodyne Therapy: Pain, muscle spasm, stiffness, and poor circulation, often caused by diabetes, vascular disease or other disorders, can be significantly reduced with this non-invasive, drug-free treatment.
